Armed Forces Foundation August 05, 2004

Are you from a military family? Here`s a resource you might want to know about. Established in 2002, the Armed Forces Foundation promotes the morale, welfare, and quality of life of the United States armed forces community, including active duty military, reservists, and retired personnel and their families. The Foundation`s slogan is "serving Those Who Serve." Children of military personnel can miss out on participating in special activities with their parents while their father or mother is deployed in defense of our nation`s security. While of course no one can replace their parents, activites are available that can help make a difference in their lives. The Foundation organizes a variety of programs with the goal of providing support, recreation, and educational services to contribute to the retention, readiness, and mental, physical, and emotional well-being and enjoyment of the military community. Last year, the Armed Forces Foundation donated 100% of all outside contributions directly to deployed military families with such programs as:
  • $51,000 in turkey certificates to needy soldiers and their families for Thanksgiving
  • $50,000 in $100 store certificates to enlisted soldiers and their families fro Christmas
  • $5,000 in Wal-Mart gift certificates to wounded soldies at Walter Read Army Hosptial and Bethesda Naval Hospital
  • 1,200 pictures of military dependant children with Santa and mailed them to their parents deployed overseas
  • Shipped goods such as sunglasses, lip balm, socks, and candy to our troops
  • So take a look at the Armed Forces Foundation! To learn more, visit their website.
