Will Also Serve on Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee

Washington, DC – Congresswoman Heather Wilson today announced she has been named Ranking Member of the House Subcommittee on Technical and Tactical Intelligence, one of four subcommittees of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence.

Wilson will also serve on the Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations. Both subcommittees have an important oversight role over the National Security Agency (NSA) and the Terrorist Surveillance Program.

“It is again an honor and responsibility to take a leadership role on our nation’s intelligence work,” Wilson said, welcoming committee assignments that place her in a strong position to work on issues that are important to New Mexico and national security. “A member of the House can best influence policy through dedicated Committee work. These assignments represent opportunities for me to continue focusing on the most important national security issues facing our nation.”

Now in her fifth full term in Congress, Wilson has an extensive background on national security issues and has always had committee assignments with a national security focus. A graduate of the U.S. Air Force Academy, she is a former staff member at the National Security Council. New Mexico’s First District includes Kirtland Air Force Base and Sandia National Laboratories.
