Wilson Seeks Nominations of Local Women to Honor for Women’s History Month March 06, 2001

Washington, DC—In honor of Woman’s History Month, Congresswoman Heather Wilson is asking New Mexicans to send her nominations of women in New Mexico that have given special service to our community, but may have never received recognition for their good deeds. Wilson plans to honor the nominees on the floor of the House of Representatives later this month and present them with a congressional certificate.

“Every year hundreds of women make incredible sacrifices for our community and most do it in anonymity,” said Wilson. “I think this will be a great way for members of the community to say thank you to the many volunteers and unsung heroes that make our community so strong. I hope that as many people as possible will join me in the effort and I look forward to learning about the many heroic women that have impacted peoples lives across our great state.”

Congresswoman Wilson is asking anyone who is interested in nominating someone for this recognition to call her office at (505) 346-6781 for more information about how to proceed with making a nomination. You can also visit Wilson’s web site at www.house.gov/wilson to obtain a nomination form. All nominations must be received by March 19th and all nominees must be female residents of New Mexico. Nominations can be made posthumously.
