| Wilson Congratulates Tempur-Pedic for 300 New Jobs in NM |

| Washington, DC – Congresswoman Heather Wilson today congratulated Tempur-Pedic on plans to create 300 new jobs in Albuquerque.
Tempur-Pedic, and parent company Tempur World, today announced the selection of Albuquerque for a $56 million, 530,000-square-foot manufacturing plant. Within three years, the company expects the plant to employ 300 people.
“Tempur-Pedic will not be disappointed with this investment in our community and the New Mexico work force,” Wilson said. “New Mexico is already on pace for the second-highest job growth rate in the nation this year, and this is yet another sign of good things to come. This is additional good news after a blistering GDP growth rate of 7.2 percent in this quarter.”
“For some time, national statistics have indicated economic recovery is gaining traction, but I’m particularly encouraged with this news combined with the reports of new jobs I’ve gotten from several Albuquerque companies over the past few weeks,” Wilson said. “New Mexico welcomes Tempur-Pedic and these new opportunities.”
Jobless claims improved last month to the lowest level since February, and the growth rate of 7.2 percent for the Gross Domestic Product in the third quarter of 2003 was the highest in nearly two decades.
Congresswoman Heather Wilson has paved the way for New Mexico to receive $13 million in federal funding for transportation and infrastructure projects, including $1 million for reconstruction of the Coors and I-40 interchange and $2 million to reconstruct the Paseo del Volcan and I-40 interchange.
Wilson has cited the infrastructure projects as key to attracting employers like Tempur-pedic to Albuquerque’s growing west side.
