How Fuel Efficient is Your Car? March 05, 2007

New Fuel Efficiency for the 21st Century

New MPG Ratings

EPA has recently revised methods for estimating vehicle fuel economy to better represent current driving styles and situations. The new methods, which apply to model year 2008 and later vehicles, include the city and highway test used for previous models along with additional tests to represent actual driving conditions that include;
  • Faster Speeds and Acceleration
  • Air Conditioner Use
  • Colder Outside Temperatures

  • MPG estimates will also be adjusted downward to account for factors that are difficult to replicate in the laboratory, such as wind and road surface resistance. The tests will most likely lower the MPG.

    The new explanation on the sticker will show what the annual fuel cost could be and the vehicles combined fuel economy score.

    2008 & future label

    Congresswoman Wilson is committed to a strong energy plan that will make Amercia more energy independent.
