Worked to Secure $600,000 for the Renovation
Albuquerque, NM - Congresswoman Heather Wilson today looked on as a pararescue team demonstrated the use of the Training Tower at Kirtland Air Force Base.
Wilson worked to secure $600,000 to renovate the tower in the Defense Appropriations bill. The tower needs refitted to accommodate growing classes in the training program.
"We must ensure the American military is the best equipped, best trained, and most capable in the world, and the specialized training tower is another important role that Kirtland fills," Wilson said. "Our military men and women do a great job and we must continue to provide the tools to succeed and help keep them safe."
Since 1998, Wilson has worked on infrastructure improvements at Kirtland. Every investment in the base strengthens the base`s standing for the upcoming round of Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC). A quarter of a billion dollars has been invested in Kirtland infrastructure in recent years, including a $173 million housing project and direct infrastructure improvements to the facilities. This year, in addition to the rebuilding the tower, Wilson secured $9.2 million to build a corrosion control facility at Kirtland.
