Press Release of Senator Lugar

Federal Assistance Available at Huntington County Public Library

Thursday, July 24, 2008

U.S. Sen. Dick Lugar announced today that members of his staff will be in the Huntington County Public Library Annex on Tuesday, July 29 from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. to meet with area residents needing assistance. The Huntington County Public Annex is located at 200 W. Market Street, Huntington 46750.

“It is important that Hoosiers have an opportunity to meet one-on-one with experts from my staff who can address concerns or help with problems they may be having,” said Lugar, who regularly sends his staff to meet with residents across the state.

Lugar representatives will be available on Tuesday, July 29, 2008, from 11:30a.m. - 12:30p.m. at the Huntington Library to meet individually with area residents needing assistance or seeking information on federal agencies.

Lugar’s Constituent Services Staff assists Hoosiers with a variety of issues including passports, immigration, employment issues, pensions, education matters, military and veteran concerns, Social Security and Medicare problems, IRS and postal issues, consumer complaints, and housing and emergency assistance needs. Lugar’s staff has extensive experience working with federal, state and local agencies to help Hoosiers who have encountered difficulties or seek additional assistance.

Lugar’s staff is also interested in learning about new ideas and innovations Hoosiers have that could help America increase its energy security. For more than a decade, Lugar has stressed the strategic importance of energy security and the economic and security risks of dependence on imported foreign energy sources. Lugar also maintains a Special Projects Staff that can assist local elected officials, citizens groups and not-for-profit organizations in obtaining information on proposed projects related to agriculture, education, housing, roads and highways, small business and environmental concerns.

Hoosiers interested in signing up for Lugar’s monthly electronic newsletter should send an email with SUBSCRIBE in the subject line to newsletter@lugar.senate.gov.
