Congresswoman Supports $52 Billion Aid Package
Washington, DC – Congresswoman Heather Wilson today supported a $52 billion disaster relief package to help the victims of Hurricane Katrina which passed the U.S. House of Representatives 410-11.
The House, which also passed an emergency $10.5 billion last week, today approved the second supplemental spending bill to help the people of the Gulf Coast.
“Rebuilding will be a difficult task, but this important funding will begin the process of helping people get back on their feet,” Wilson said. “We’re saddened by the loss of lives and livelihoods, but absolutely resolved to helping the Gulf Coast recover.”
The funding includes support for housing assistance, disaster relief supplies and logistics, temporary subsistence for displaced families, pay and health care for National Guard mobilization, damage assessments, urgent repairs and other efforts.
