REAL EXPERIENCE: Internship Opportunities for College & High School Students
As part of our commitment to our community we have a college and high school internship programs. Over 30 students have worked in the District and Washington offices, 6 college students and 18 high school students. Each bring their own set of skill, knowledge and abilities to share with us. All add a fresh point of view to the work we are doing.
Most of the students participate in an internship for the job experience and community service, although some also receive academic credit. For the first time this semester we have a student from TVI Service Learning Program.
It is my pleasure to acknowledge the students who are currently interning in my office:

Do you know where the first Spanish capital of New Mexico was? |
In 1598, Don Juan de Oñate, his soldiers, oxcarts and livestock arrived at Caypa, one of two Pueblo villages at the confluence of the Río Chama and the Río Grande, north of present-day Española. He soon moved across the river to Yungueingge (Tewa for mockingbird place), a now-ruined pueblo he renamed San Gabriel del Yunque, and the first Spanish capital of New Mexico.
