Bill Would Stop Tricare Fee Increases
Washington, DC – Congresswoman Heather Wilson today announced she is cosponsoring bipartisan legislation to protect veterans from fee increases in the Tricare program.
“We owe a great debt to generations of service men and women. A commitment was made to them,” Wilson said. “Millions across the world live in freedom today because of the service and sacrifice of American military veterans and our allies.”
Wilson is cosponsoring the Commitment to Healthcare for Military Retirees Act, which would protect veterans from increases to TRICARE military health insurance premiums, deductibles, and co-payments.
The legislation, introduced today, would prevent an increase in health care fees on military retirees enrolled in Tricare. The Department of Defense announced plans in February to double fees on senior enlisted retirees and triple them for officer retirees. For some retirees, this could mean increases of up to $1,000 in their yearly payments.
Wilson also has cosponsored the bipartisan Keep Our Promise to America’s Military Retirees Act (H.R. 602).
