Washington, DC - Congresswoman Heather Wilson announced today that Albuquerque Public Schools (APS) has been awarded $1.25 million for its Math, Science and Technology Education Partnership. The partnership is a pilot program dedicated to the delivery of quality math and science education through state-of-the-art technology. The funding will be used by APS for the professional development and training of teachers, specialized training for students, parents and the community, and purchasing materials needed to implement quality instruction and learning opportunities.
“We need to give our kids better opportunities and more innovative approaches to learning math and science,” said Wilson. “This Partnership is a fantastic opportunity to explore new ways to reach kids and develop that interest.”
The Math, Science and Technology Education Partnership works with professionals in math, science, and technology fields and has developed strong relationships with the business community to improve math and science teaching. The Partnership seeks to help all students obtain high academic achievement and encourages the participation of students from various ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds.
