Economic Development Center will grow jobs for Albuquerque
Washington, DC - Congresswoman Heather Wilson today announced that Bernalillo County and the Rio Grande Community Development Corporation will receive a $900,000 grant for the South Valley Economic Development Center project. The funding will be used for planning, design, and construction of a project that will help stimulate the South Valley economy and create jobs by boosting small businesses. Part of the long-term revitalization and preservation strategy of the South Valley is to build the Economic Development Center to “hatch” small and emerging companies during their early, vulnerable years.
“Small business owners sometimes need a helping hand to get them through the challenges as they start-up and begin to grow,” said Wilson. “This project will give many fledgling businesses the chance to succeed and can potentially provide a much-needed boost to the economy of the South Valley.”
Last Fall, Wilson secured $300,000 in construction funding for the South Valley Economic Development Center, included in the VA-HUD Appropriations bill for FY 2002.
