Congratulates NM Education Network Center on 3-year Federal Grant
Washington, DC – Congresswoman Heather Wilson today announced that the New Mexico Education Network Center is receiving a federal grant for $1.3 million.
Wilson congratulated the New Mexico Education Network Center (NMENC) upon being awarded a three-year grant of $1,305,260 through the Comprehensive School Reform (CSR) Quality Initiatives Program.
“I’m pleased to announce this federal funding to keep New Mexico schools on track for improvement,” Wilson said. “We need a good public school in every neighborhood so that every child can get a great education.”
Congress authorized the CSR Quality Initiatives program to provide discretionary grants to support activities that will enhance the State-administered CSR program and to enable schools that have been identified for improvement, corrective action, or restructuring to meet their State`s definition of Adequate Yearly Progress.
New Mexico schools working with NMEMC include East Mountain Charter High School in Sandia Park, Martin Elementary in Deming, Nuestros Valores Charter School in Albuquerque and TEQ Sombrillo Elementary in Espanola. For more information visit, http://www.essentialschools.org/.
This program awards funds to support:
Providing technical assistance to States, school districts, and schools in making informed decisions regarding approving or selecting providers of comprehensive school reform.
Supporting capacity building for comprehensive school reform providers to expand their work in more schools, ensure quality, and promote financial stability.
