Samoas, or Thin Mints? March 06, 2003

Are you sure you know your Girl Scout Cookies? Test your cookie IQ.Dear Friends,

I love Samoas. The rest of the family are Thin Mint fans. But we all avoided feeling guilty last week about too many girl scout cookies when we participated in a great idea that Amber Williams at 100.3 The Peak came up with.

Last Thursday, Friday, and Saturday Kit and Mike from the Peak camped out in a tent at Coronado Mall. Girl Scouts from Chaparral Council sold cookies and Mail Boxes Etc. was there to ship them for free to New Mexico soldiers overseas. New Mexicans bought more than 4,500 boxes of cookies for our troops and helped the girl scouts raise $14,400.

"T
hanks, New Mexico, for brightening the day of friends and family far from home.
--Heather Wilson

The best moment of the day when I was in the field part of basic training was mail call. A crowd would form, you would listen for your name as they pulled items from a canvass bag and pass the prize back, hand over hand.

Later, when we were allowed to get care packages, there were impromptu parties to share the booty, savoring each treat and savoring also the warmth of knowing someone cared.

Thanks, New Mexico, for brightening the day of friends and family far from home.

Wish you were here,

Kit Missile and Mike broadcast live from a National Guard tent for three straight days. Here, they visited with a National Guardsman, who also happens to be Congresswoman Wilson`s husband. Thanks, Jay!
