In a growing state like Idaho, the financial service sector plays a vital role in the development of our local economy. As a member of the Senate Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs Committee, I am actively involved in such issues as federal monetary policy, urban development and identity theft prevention.

Idaho is paving the way for renewable energy sources such as nuclear, wind and geothermal. I am pleased to support this effort and to serve on the Renewables and Energy Efficiency Caucus, in which I have many opportunities to further promote Idaho's expansion of clean, alternative energy.

Environment & Natural Resources

We in Idaho are proud of our natural resources and land. As a member of the Congressional Sportsmen's Caucus, I support a collaborative approach to conservation, recognizing the need to preserve our environment while protecting private property rights.

Family & Social Policy

A strong family unit is a vital component of a healthy society. In this section, review some of the important issues facing American families today and the legislation being addressed in Congress, such as marriage protection, pro-life initiatives, domestic violence prevention and methamphetamine awareness.

Global Competitiveness

As a member of the Senate Republican High-Tech Task Force, I continue to support cutting-edge science and research programs that will empower our nation to be competitive with the rest of the world. In this section, you can see some of my efforts in Congress to promote our global competitiveness.

Healthcare

Ensuring access to effective and affordable health care is one of the greatest challenges facing the health profession, insurers, and local, state and federal governments. As the Chair and founder of the Congressional Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) Caucus, I am working to generate public awareness and prevention of critical health issues.

National Defense & the Global War on Terrorism

Our first responsibility in Congress and as a nation is to protect Americans from threats to our national security. In this section, you will find information on Idaho's military, in addition to my position on safeguarding our national security, protecting our borders and dealing with the global war on terrorism.

This section addresses some of the most pertinent issues facing our nation's seniors today, including such matters as Social Security, health care and much more.

Taxes

I will continue to fight for lower taxes and a comprehensive reform of the federal tax code. Having a seat in the Senate Finance Committee puts me in good position to advocate against burdensome taxes. Get more information on the AMT, repealing the estate tax, and other tax relief measures.
