South Bend, IN—Today, Congressman Joe Donnelly presented medals to five veterans during a ceremony at the Military Honor Park in South Bend.
“I am extremely honored to present these medals to these fine men who served their country so valiantly,” Donnelly said. “As we celebrate Veterans Day tomorrow, it is important to thank our veterans for the service they’ve given to our country. While we can never fully repay the debt we owe our veterans, these medals are a token of our gratitude.”

The following veterans received medals:
Mike Kedik: Mr. Kedik served in the United States Army during World War II. He will be presented with the Good Conduct Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with a double Bronze Star Attachment, World War II Victory Medal, Honorable Service Lapel Button WWII, Marksman Badge and Rifle Bar.
Edward Wark: Mr. Wark passed away, but his son, Charles, will be accepting medals on behalf of his father’s service in the United States Army during World War II. He will be presented with the Good Conduct Medal, American Campaign Medal, World War II Victory Medal, Honorable Service Lapel Button WWII and Sharpshooter Badge and Rifle Bar.
Wayne Michael Toth: Mr. Toth served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He will be presented with a Purple Heart, the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Combat Infantryman Badge 1st Award, the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Ribbon with Device and Sharpshooter Badge and Rifle Bar.
Russell Hawn: Mr. Hawn served in the United States Navy during World War II and the Korean War. He will be presented with the Navy Good Conduct Medal, the World War II Victory Medal, the American Campaign Medal, the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal with a Silver Star, the Navy Occupation Service Medal with Clasp for Asia, the China Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Service Medal with four Bronze Stars, the United Nations Service Medal, the Navy Unit Commendation Ribbon, the Combat Action Ribbon with 1 Gold Star, the Republic of Korea War Service Medal, the Discharge Button and the Honorable Service Lapel Pin.
Jeffro Shadrix: Mr. Shadrix served in the United States Army during World War II. Although he earned many medals and awards for his service, today he will be presented with his missing Purple Heart.
