Washington – Senator Evan Bayh today announced that the Boys and Girls Clubs of Northwest Indiana, Inc has been awarded a U.S. Department of Education (USDOE) grant for $196,036 to strengthen mentoring programs for youth.
“Mentors can have a significant influence in the life of a child,” Senator Bayh said. “It’s a testament to the great work of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Northwest Indiana that they received this grant to enhance their programs and have an impact on the lives of young Hoosiers.”
The grant was awarded as part of the USDOE’s Mentoring Program Grants, which makes awards to local organizations that promote school-based mentoring for children in need with the goal of improving academic achievement.
