Nominations are not needed to the Coast Guard Academy. However, my Service Academy Coordinator will assist with any information requested. The following is a brief outline of the Senator's Academy Nomination Process along with a Service Academy Questionnaire. Only those students who claim Minnesota as their permanent residence may apply. To initiate a file, candidates must fill out an online application. The application can be found by clicking here, please follow the directions carefully. Once the application is complete, you will receive a confirmation email from my office that your application was received. Once you have completed and submitted your online application, candidates must submit the following to complete their file: Official high school (&) official college transcripts Official SAT scores (Code 0267) OR ACT Scores (7146) One 500 word (limit) Essay, "Why I want to attend a Service Academy." Once the deadline is completed, each candidate will receive an interview from my Service Academy Board members in November. Following the interviews, each candidate is scored based on their interview, academic performance, and extracurricular and community involvement.
