The Subcommittee on Terrorism, Technology, and Homeland Security

As Chairman and now Ranking Member of the Senate Judiciary Committee’s Subcommittee on Terrorism, Technology, and Homeland Security, I have long fought to improve the federal government’s ability to prevent, defend against, and respond to the terrorist threat facing our nation.  The Subcommittee’s jurisdiction includes oversight of anti-terrorism enforcement and policy, electronic privacy and computer security, and the Freedom of Information Act.

The Subcommittee has convened hearings on a variety of issues, including vulnerabilities in our nation’s border security and immigration laws, identity theft, and the detention of individuals captured in the war against the terrorists.

Below you will find witness lists, testimony, and transcripts from each of the Subcommittee’s hearings.  I would also encourage you to review the report issued by the Subcommittee at the end of 2006.  That report, entitled “Five Years After September 11: Keeping American Safe,” provides a detailed review of the Subcommittee’s activities from 2005 to 2006, and discusses the Congressional actions taken to respond to vulnerabilities identified at each of the Subcommittee’s hearings during that period.
