Universal Healthcare

Today many Americans find themselves uninsured or under-insured. Every American regardless of age, income, job status, health condition or geographic location, should have access to quality, affordable health care.  For this reason, I co-sponsored H. R. 676, the United States National Health Insurance Act (or the Expanded and Improved Medicare for All Act).  Passage of this legislation would establish the United States National Health Insurance (USNHI) Program and would provide all individuals residing in the United States and in U.S. territories with access to quality health care and give them the freedom to choose from participating physicians and institutions within the program.  This act also supports important aspects of health care such as primary care and prevention, prescription drugs, emergency care, and mental health services.

I agree that health care should be a right, not a privilege, for every American.  H.R. 676 addresses issues including: protecting Medicare rights of senior citizens, providing  insurance to the uninsured, expanding the prescription drug coverage and working to expand the funding and reach of the programs that service low-income Americans.  I strongly believe that all these issues must be resolved in order to repair our broken health care system.

Please know that I continue to press Congress to pass H.R. 676 or any other measure that can fix our nation's broken health care system.
