(Washington, DC)–The Investigations and Oversight Subcommittee of the House Committee on Science and Technology held a hearing on the Integrated Risk Information System (IRIS), a database established in the 1980s to provide a single source of information on the risks associated with exposure to chemicals. The IRIS database provides a hazard identification and dose-response analysis, scientific information that when combined with estimates of exposure allow regulatory agencies to produce a risk assessment.

(Washington, DC) – Today, the House Science and Technology Committee's Subcommittee on Investigations and Oversight held a hearing to assess the effects of globalization of jobs and technology on America's economy. The Subcommittee is examining what influences U.S. firms' decisions to locate their production and research facilities at home or abroad.

Washington, D.C. – The U.S. House of Representatives today passed an amendment sponsored by Rep. Brad Miller (NC-13) by a 256 to 160 vote that would affirm the longstanding right of States to regulate the home foreclosure process. The Miller-LaTourette Amendment is part of the American Housing Rescue and Foreclosure Prevention Act which will create a voluntary FHA program to provide mortgage refinancing assistance to allow families to stay in their homes, protect neighborhoods, and help stabilize the housing market.

Washington, D.C. – Amid a GOP walkout in the U.S. House of Representatives today, lawmakers approved contempt citations against White House officials which will implement a two-part strategy that allows Congress to pursue the matter in both criminal and civil court.
