Rep. Alan Mollohan (D-W.Va.), under fire from Republicans and watchdog groups over his personal financial dealings, will step aside, at least temporarily, as ranking member of the House ethics committee, according to Democratic insiders.
Rep. Howard Berman (D-Calif.), a former chairman of the committee, will take over for Mollohan.
Mollohan informed House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) of his decision in a letter today, and Pelosi “has accepted his decision,” a Democratic source said.
