Safe Internet Use

A February 2003, report from the White House has warned that hackers can exploit unsecured home computers to launch cyber attacks and compromise computers files.  On October 26, 2003, I am urging all of my constituents with home computers to follow these computer security tips to help combat hackers and prevent worms and viruses as part of National Cyber Security Day.  Tips include:

  • Use anti-virus software and always keep it up to date.

  • Use a firewall.

  • Only share files with people you know or trust.

  • Use unique passwords and don't share them with anybody.

  • Download and update your system with the latest security patches.

More information and resources are available at GetNetwise.org.
