The Auto Industry Financing and Restructuring Act enables a short-term loan of previously established funds to provide financing for the auto industry being allocated to the three auto manufacturers.

The Committee has jurisdiction over the Department of Veterans’ Affairs (VA), the largest healthcare delivery system in the nation.
BUYER SECURES RESEARCH FUNDS TO PROTECT SOLDIERS FROM FACIAL INJURIES
Washington, D.C.—MTek Weapons System, located in Martinsville, IN, has been awarded a $1.14 million contract for the research and development of facial armor to be worn by U.S Soldiers. Congressman Steve Buyer (IN-04) requested appropriations to fund the further research of this project in the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2008. The face shields, developed by MTek, are worn by Soldiers in combat to prevent facial and head wounds caused by IED blasts.
BIPARTISAN EFFORTS LAID THE GROUND WORK FOR NEW AIRPORT
Washington, D.C.—Bipartisan efforts were led by Congressman Steve Buyer (IN-04) and late Congresswoman Julia Carson in laying the ground work for the new airport terminal that opens on Tuesday. Congressman Buyer and Congresswoman Carson led Congressional efforts to gain the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) full support for the proposed new terminal.
