The Department of State represents and protects U.S. interests around the world. The agency issues passports and assists Americans with travel abroad. Its Web site travel.state.gov provides travel safety announcements and explains entry requirements and services available to Americans living or traveling abroad.
Senator Thune would like to remind all international travelers about the reinstatement of passport requirements when traveling between the U.S. and Canada, Mexico, and the Caribbean. Beginning October 1st, 2007 U.S. citizens traveling to these destinations by air will be required to have a passport. A receipt of application will no longer be sufficient. As an additional reminder, beginning January 1st, 2008 all travelers driving to Canada and Mexico will be required to have a passport.
Requirements
If you are experiencing a problem with the State Department or if you have not received your passport within two weeks of your departure date, please complete, print, and sign the Privacy Act waiver. You may fax or mail the completed form with any supporting documentation to the office that serves your area.
