Two Missouri High Schools to March in Inauguration Parade

On inaugural day, U.S. Senator Claire McCaskill will be keeping her eye out for two Missouri high schools on Pennsylvania Avenue - the Blue Springs High School Golden Regiment Marching Band and the Theodore Roosevelt High School Marine Corps JROTC Color Guard and Drill Team from St. Louis. McCaskill called both schools to inform them that they had been selected to participate in the parade celebrating the inauguration of President-elect Barack Obama on January 20, 2009 in Washington, D.C., and today recorded a video congratulating the students.

"I am so proud that these young people from Missouri will be part of this historic day. These students will be representing thousands of young Missourians who are making good choices every day and represent our future. I congratulate them on this honor," McCaskill said.

Following the inauguration ceremony in front of the U.S. Capitol, the groups will march with other parade participants up Pennsylvania Avenue to the White House. Record-breaking crowds from across the country are expected to travel to the nations capital to be part of the inauguration festivities, including viewing the parade.
