Child Support

When a woman from Menasha needed assistance with her child support arrangements, she asked Senator Kohl for help. Senator Kohl's staff got in touch with the appropriate government agency to help the constituent secure a better situation.

"I appreciate all of your help. Without your help I would not get a modification on child support. I also want to commend you on staying in touch with us, calling back and letting us know that you are working for us." - Lisa, Menasha

Social Security

When a Wisconsin family was going through a difficult time with an ailing son, they asked Senator Kohl to help them take care of arranging social security and Medicaid. Senator Kohl's office was able to advise them and arrange for the process to run smoothly.

"Our sincere appreciation for your offer to help our son…David suffered a ruptured aneurysm the day after Thanksgiving…His wife contacted Social Security and they reopened his files. It was approved and they will be getting the disability payments as well as SSI and Medicaid. If we need any further assistance we will contact you. It's good to know someone cares about the little people." - Karl and Maybelle

After Senator Kohl's office helped a Wisconsin woman navigate the social security system, she began to receive her payments on a regular basis.

"The two words "thank you" is not nearly enough to say to you. Chances are that we may never meet face to face, but if we did I'd give you the biggest hug I could." - Eva

When a family from Cable had to deal with an IRS error, they contacted Senator Kohl's office to find out how to solve the problem. The office was able to work with an IRS official to have the error corrected.

"My son, Robert, had a problem dealing with IRS that was so frustrating…The bottom line was that his refund was never sent out, and being on SSI he needed the money. It was so reassuring for us to get a timely response from your office, stating that the IRS had indeed made a mistake and Robert's refund would be mailed out!" - Joan

When a couple from Caddott was trying to receive disability claim money from the Social Security agency, they ran into problems. They contacted Senator Kohl's office in order to rectify the situation and receive their payments.

"Thank you for assisting us with my husband's social security disability claim. We really appreciate all of the time you put in on it." - Joe and Elaine

A Nekoosa couple was not receiving Social Security payments due to a distribution error, so they contacted Senator Kohl's office for help. The office was able to fix the problem in a speedy fashion and close the situation.

"We would like to extend our sincerest gratitude for all that you and your office was able to accomplish as our advocates to the Social Security Administration. Suffice it to say that the matter has now been settled in our favor. After our contact with you, the matter was addressed expediently and courteously. This is a great testament to your office, in that you were able to quickly assess the issue and act accordingly. Thank you once again." - Howard and Gladys

Immigration

Recently, a couple from Fall Creek trying to adopt a child from China. When they ran into problems with the local Immigration and Naturalization Services office, they contacted Senator Kohl's office for help with this difficult situation.

"Thank you so much for interceding on our behalf with the Wisconsin INS Immigration office...I am convinced that we would still be waiting for that I-171H for our Chinese adoption if you had not done the impossible…We are thankful that you made the effort. Thank you again!" - Ann and Steve

Making immigration a top priority, Senator Kohl never hesitates to reach out and help families in need, as was the case with this mother's effort to return her daughter from China to the United States.

"I really appreciate the efforts of you and your staff helping me return to the U.S. with my daughter Taylor. It was a great comfort knowing so many people were working to help us return from China safely, especially during a time with so much going on. Thank you!" - Sonja

Getting Wisconsin its Fair Share

Senator Kohl works to insure that Wisconsin gets a fair return on its tax dollars. One way he does that is by advocating on behalf of Wisconsin constituents applying for a federal grant. The following note came from a Mequon constituent.

"I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your service. Through your assistance for federal grants and through your actions at the Treasury department on my behalf, you have shown me the kind of personal service I would never expect from an elected official. I really appreciate it, and I'd like you to know that you can count on my support as long as I remain a resident of Wisconsin." - Brian

When the Hmong population of Madison needed additional funding to keep open a local relief center - the Kajsiab House -- they contacted Senator Kohl to obtain this funding. Senator Kohl help them secure the money, which allowed them to keep the Kajsiab House open. The House provides health services to the local Hmong population.

"On behalf of the staff of Kajsiab House and elderly Hmong participants, I want to thank you for keeping us in your heart and mind this year. Your leadership, advocacy, and compassion for Hmong elders and their struggle are very much appreciated by all of us at Kajsiab House. Thank you very much, and we all await your return visit." - Dova

Medicare

Medicare issues can be complicated and difficult. When a constituent from Amery was having trouble receiving payments he asked Senator Kohl for help.

"I am pleased to inform you that Medicare has finally paid their share of my claims of the past two years and I wish to thank you and your staff for your prompt actions on my behalf. The citizens of Wisconsin are very fortunate to have you representing us." - Donald

When a Greenfield man needed help regarding his Medicare benefits, he came to Senator Kohl's office for assistance. The office was able to work through the difficulties and arrange for his Medicare benefits to get to him.

"Thank you very much for your help. Because of your kindness I now am enjoying my Medicare benefits, and I am so grateful to you. I had run into a wall and you took it down." - Merle

A woman from Pewaukee contacted Senator Kohl regarding her problems with Medicare. And to her content, her problem was addressed promptly through the efforts of Senator Kohl and his staff.

"Many thanks for the successful resolution of my problem with Medicare. I am very grateful this bill is no longer hanging over my head. Thank you again!" - Elaine

When a woman from Lebanon, Wisc. had difficulty obtaining her Medicare check to pay for two sets of eyeglasses, Senator Kohl's staff assisted her to remedy the situation. Through the help of the office, the woman was able to receive her check and pay for her eyeglasses.

Postal Affairs

Senator Kohl works to ensure all Wisconsinites have a trustworthy and accountable postal service. When a woman from Verona contacted the Senator about a problematic postal directive afflicting her elderly parents, the Senator and his staff took action to address the issue.

"Because of the swift and convincing action on the part of your staff, the problem was resolved and three neighborhoods were spared from moving their mailboxes...Thank you!" - Anne

Transportation

When a manufacturing company in Mason was having troubles dealing with the local county highway department, Senator Kohl's office mediated and helped resolve the situation.

"We had a few political troubles with the county highway department, however, with the help of your Wisconsin Office these troubles were taken care of...The work you and your staff have done for the State of Wisconsin and the United States is outstanding." - Paul

Worker's Compensation When a Racine woman needed help with a worker's compensation claim, she appealed to Senator Kohl for help. Senator Kohl's staff quickly handled the issue and saw that her claim was settled.

"I wish to thank you for your assistance with my worker's compensation claim. What I had tried to do in three years, it appears your office was able to accomplish in three weeks!" - Gayle
