Daschle To Be Secretary Of Health And Human ServicesWashington, DC—Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid made the following statement today after President-elect Obama nominated former Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle to be Secretary of Health and Human Services and Director of the Office of Health Reform in the White House: “President-elect Obama has shown great judgment in selecting former Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle to confront our nation’s many health-related challenges, both in the Department of Health and Human Services and in the White House. I have known and worked with Senator Daschle for decades, and I have long respected his strong commitment to improving health care for all Americans. I am encouraged to know that we will have such a dedicated and capable leader taking on the crises in our health care system and look forward to confirming him as quickly as possible so he can begin this important work.” ###
