Congressman Crenshaw Announces $4.9 million for the Jacksonville Aviation Authority

May 15, 2007

(Washington, DC) – Congressman Ander Crenshaw today announced that the Jacksonville Aviation Authority will receive $4,910,000 for use at the Jacksonville International Airport through the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Airport Improvement Program.

“This funding will go a long way to improve and enhance operations at the Jacksonville International Airport,” said Congressman Crenshaw.  “The vibrant Jacksonville economy owes much of its success to the airport – this expansion will help encourage even more growth in the future.  This is an excellent example of federal funds making an important difference at the local level.”

“We are just excited about the continued support Congressman Ander Crenshaw has provided for our overall terminal expansion,” said Jacksonville Aviation Authority Director of External Affairs, Michael Stewart.

This funding will be used for phase 3 of the terminal expansion project at Jacksonville International Airport, which includes the expansion of terminals and apron area.  This expansion is required to accommodate the addition of two new concourses which are currently under construction.  Upon completion, the proposed improvements will greatly facilitate the flow of aircraft ground movements, expedite aircraft access to the gates and minimize overall aircraft turnaround time at the airport.  The terminal expansion project is expected to be completed in 2009.
