(WASHINGTON, D.C.) – Sen. Patty Murray announced today that almost $2 million in federal funds to help build a Park-and-Ride lot will be released to King County on March 5, 2004. Murray used her position as the top Democrat on the Senate Transportation Appropriations Committee to secure the funds in the FY 2002 Appropriations bill.

The $1,980,058 will go to the King County Department of Transportation to create a Park-and-Ride Lot in Eastgate that will help ease the burden of crowded lots for commuters.

“Anyone who’s been frustrated by traffic in our region can take pride in the construction of this Park-and-Ride lot,” Sen. Murray said. “I am proud to have secured this funding to help decrease the congestion that commuters face every day.”

Murray is a ranking member on the Subcommittee for Transportation Appropriations.
