I hope you will take the time to explore the many historic, cultural, and educational opportunities that make Washington more than just the seat of the United States government.  Your visit to our nation’s capital, whether for business or pleasure, will provide lasting memories that you will cherish for a lifetime.  


We hope the following list of tour sites and resources will be helpful as you plan your visit. Some tours require no reservations, while others require reservations well in advance of the tour date. Our office can assist in scheduling the tours listed on the tour request form. Please fill out the Tour Request Form or call us at (202) 224-6121 and let us know what we can do for you.


The following information will help you better plan an upcoming trip to the Washington, D.C. area.


U.S. Capitol


Sen. DeMint's office provides guided tours of the U.S. Capitol and the Capitol Visitor Center Monday through Friday. For more information regarding scheduling information, please call (202) 224-6121 or send an e-mail to tours@demint.senate.gov.

White House


White House tours are available Tuesday through Saturday. The White House is closed to the public on Sundays and Mondays. Tours are available in the mornings from 7:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. We recommend that you contact our office at least 2 to 3 months in advance and may be made up to 6 months in advance of your visit to Washington, D.C.   


Bureau of Engraving and Printing


MARCH THROUGH SEPTEMBER:  Tickets are required for all tours on a first-come, first-served basis. The ticket booth is located on Raoul Wallenberg Place (formerly 15th Street).  The Bureau offers same day tickets only. The Ticket Booth opens at 8:00 a.m. - Monday through Friday, and closes when all tickets have been distributed. Lines form early and tickets go quickly, most days’ tickets are gone by 9:00 a.m. Please plan accordingly. 


OCTOBER THROUGH FEBRUARY: No tickets required. Visitors may line up at the Visitors’ Entrance on 14th Street. Please allow 45 – 50 minutes from the time of arrival to enter the building until the end of your tour. 


For reserved congressional tours, please contact our office at least one month in advance.


Library of Congress


Tours arranged through my office are offered at 8:30 a.m. and 1:45 p.m. Monday through Friday. These tours of the Thomas Jefferson Building are lead by a Library of Congress docent and include an introduction to the "American Treasures" exhibition.   


Supreme Court


The Supreme Court building is open from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. It is closed Saturdays, Sundays, and federal holidays.  Self-guided tours are available as well as lectures in the Courtroom which are typically given every hour on the half-hour, on days that the Court is not sitting. Please note that our office does not schedule these tours.
