June 30, 2008 – SmyrnaSenator Carper helped break ground for a new group home for six physically disabled adults created by the Krysti Bingham Cerebral Palsy Foundation, Inc. Everyone involved came together to celebrate the groundbreaking, including HUD, New Castle County, DSHA, family, friends and local elected officials.

June 30, 2008 – DoverSenator Carper participated in the ribbon cutting and dedication of the Dover Veterans Outpatient Clinic. A Vietnam veteran himself, Senator Carper has worked tirelessly for decades to make sure out veterans get the benefits they deserve.

June 27, 2008 — WilmingtonSenator Carper joined New Castle County Executive Chris Coons, Congressman Mike Castle and members of the New Castle County Chamber of Commerce for the ribbon-cutting of their new business incubator.
June 17, 2008 — WashingtonSenator Carper spoke at the release of a report highlighting the importance of a safe, clean nuclear renaissance in job creation.
June 16, 2008 – WilmingtonSenator Carper was honored to help kick off the summer tennis program for the Rodney Street Tennis and Tutoring Association. The program focuses on keeping kids "on the court instead of in court." Kids stay physically and mentally fit so they are healthy and productive members of the community. Senator Carper greeted the program participants, ranging from 8-18.

June 16, 2008 — Old New CastleSenator Carper visited the historic George Read House to help present a check for restoration.
June 16, 2008 — WilmingtonSenator Carper participated in the announcement of a major award for Delaware at Christiana Hospital. The Delaware Health Information Network (DHIN) will spearhead a demonstration project expected to improve the quality of care provided to an estimated 3.6 million Americans. Senator Carper spoke to the crowd while Department of Health and Human Services Deputy Secretary Tevi Troy, DHIN President Rob White and Lt. Governor John Carney listened.
The official participation banner was presented to DHIN and accepted by Gina Perez.
June 13, 2008 — GeorgetownSenator Carper attended the groundbreaking for Safe Haven Animal Sanctuary where he addressed the crowd and thanked many of the volunteers for their dedication.
Some canine friends "broke ground" for the building by digging for treats in the dirt!
Maya the dog joined Senator Carper on the bulldozer for a quick photo.
June 13, 2008 — GeorgetownSenator Carper joined USDA's Marlene Brown Elliott to announce $27,000 in federal funding for a Hispanic Business Assistance Program. The program is the first of its kind in Sussex County and will help address the business assistance needs of the Hispanic business community.
June 13, 2008 — Rehoboth BeachSenator Carper attended the grand opening of the Lake Gerar Bridge in Rehoboth Beach. Rehoboth Mayor Sam Cooper thanked Senator Carper for securing $1.6 million through the federal SAFTEA legislation, making the renovations possible. Also pictured is Rep. Pete Schwartzakopf.
Senator Carper addressed the crowd and helped cut the ribbon to open the bridge, which was widened to help with water flow, pedestrian access was enhanced, and lights were added for safety.
June 12, 2008 — WashingtonSenator Carper talked with Diarmuid O'Connell about the Tesla Roadster, an all-electric vehicle, at a plug-in electric vehicle event at the Capitol.
University of Delaware professor Willett Kempton showed Senator Carper a vehicle-to-grid Toyota Scion, which might someday let users sell eletricity generated by the vehicle back into their city's electric grid.
