Senator Carper helped break ground for a new group home for six physically disabled adults created by the Krysti Bingham Cerebral Palsy Foundation, Inc. Everyone involved came together to celebrate the groundbreaking, including HUD, New Castle County, DSHA, family, friends and local elected officials.

Senator Carper participated in the announcement of a major award for Delaware at Christiana Hospital. The Delaware Health Information Network (DHIN) will spearhead a demonstration project expected to improve the quality of care provided to an estimated 3.6 million Americans. Senator Carper spoke to the crowd while Department of Health and Human Services Deputy Secretary Tevi Troy, DHIN President Rob White and Lt. Governor John Carney listened.

Senator Carper joined USDA's Marlene Brown Elliott to announce $27,000 in federal funding for a Hispanic Business Assistance Program. The program is the first of its kind in Sussex County and will help address the business assistance needs of the Hispanic business community.

Senator Carper attended the grand opening of the Lake Gerar Bridge in Rehoboth Beach. Rehoboth Mayor Sam Cooper thanked Senator Carper for securing $1.6 million through the federal SAFTEA legislation, making the renovations possible. Also pictured is Rep. Pete Schwartzakopf.
