Presidential Inauguration

Due to overwhelming demand, my office stopped accepting Presidential Inauguration ticket requests on November 24. I apologize for the inconvenience.

On January 20, 2009, New Jerseyans and people from around the country will be gathering in Washington, D.C. to witness the Inauguration of President-Elect Barack Obama as the 44th President of the United States. The ceremony will be held outdoors on the west side of the U.S. Capitol. Tickets for the Inaugural Swearing-In Ceremony will be distributed in January 2009 by both House and Senate offices. All tickets are free and will only be distributed through Member offices. Each office will receive a very limited number of tickets. In addition, the National Mall will be open to the general public to attend without tickets. Large screen televisions will be placed on the Mall so that as many people as possible can participate in this historic event.

For those who requested tickets, my office will be in touch with you by early January regarding ticket availability. At that time you will receive detailed information regarding ticket pick-up. Please note that tickets will not be mailed. The individual requesting the tickets will be required to show a government issued photo ID in order to pick up the tickets in my Washington, D.C. office before the swearing-in ceremony.

For those interested in attending Inaugural events, a schedule will be published by the Presidential Inaugural Committee. I would encourage you to visit the Inaugural website www.inaugural.senate.gov and sign up for the email alerts to receive important notifications and news releases about the swearing-in ceremony on January 20, 2009.
