Preparing For The Digital Television Transition

After February 17, 2009, consumers with analog televisions that receive free over-the-air programming using an antenna (or “rabbit ears”) will no longer be able to receive programming unless they take steps to prepare for the digital transition.

To ensure that they continue to receive television programming, consumers can do one of three things:

• Purchase a digital-to-analog converter box. (Apply for coupons for converter boxes here);
• Purchase a digital television; or
• Subscribe to cable, satellite, or other pay TV service.
