Lieberman Statement on SCOTUS Decision on Islander East Pipeline

WASHINGTON, D.C. –  Senator Joe Lieberman (ID-CT) today issued the following statement in response to the U.S. Supreme Court’s refusal to hear an appeal regarding the planned construction of the Islander East natural gas pipeline across Long Island Sound:

“Today’s U.S Supreme Court announcement means that we can now protect a valued natural habitat  – the Long Island Sound. I have long opposed the proposed construction of natural gas pipelines in the Long Island Sound that cannot be done in a safe, environmentally sound, and non-disruptive manner.”
