Veterans Health
Care
Ensuring high quality health care for our
veterans is the least we can do to honor those who have sacrificed
so much for our great nation. Congress needs to demonstrate
a strong and resolute commitment to providing our veterans
with good health care.
The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) has faced serious
problems in the past because of funding shortfalls. I want
to guarantee that our veterans will not be affected by strains
on the VA’s resources and budget. I have long supported assured
funding for the Veterans Health Administration (VHA) and I
called on the Senate Committee on Veterans Affairs to hold
hearings that would examine mandatory funding for the VHA.
Assured funding would help make certain that veterans have
better access to care – anything less does not do justice
to the sacrifices these men and women have made for our country.
I am working to ensure that Wisconsin has the facilities needed
to care for its veterans and to guarantee that servicemembers
returning from combat receive the care and benefits they deserve,
including the best care for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder
and Traumatic Brain Injury. I was also proud to support enactment
of the Wounded Warrior bill, which will help ensure that servicemembers
receive top quality care in military treatment facilities.
Congress must honor the commitment of our nation’s men and
women who answered the call to duty with dedication and courage
by providing them with the best care possible.
