Issues Veterans Benefits
Veterans can face a daunting process when
trying to obtain the benefits they have earned. I am committed
to helping all veterans navigate through this process and
helping them learn about and receive the benefits to which
they are entitled.
I have introduced legislation to improve outreach programs
by the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and ensure that
all veterans have access to the same transition services as
they move from active duty to civilian life. I am also a strong
supporter of legislation to allow military retirees with service-connected
disabilities to concurrently receive military retirement pay
and disability compensation from the VA.
Congress’s commitment to providing the best possible benefits
to our veterans is more important than ever as an increasing
number of troops return from Iraq, Afghanistan, and across
the globe. |
