    12/1/2008 A Capitol Visitor Center for the Citizens!

    As a symbol of the American people and their government, the U.S. Capitol is one of the most recognizable buildings in the world.  Each year, millions of visitors come to see this architectural achievement, the important collection of American art that it houses, and to observe American democracy in action.  On December 2, the newest addition to this historic building, the Capitol Visitor Center, was dedicated.  The Capitol Visitor Center was designed to make the Capitol a more welcoming, secure, and informative place for visitors.  To commemorate the opening of the Capitol Visitor Center, I want to share a brief history of the evolution of the Capitol building and the new amenities offered by the Capitol Visitor Center.
