Rep. Baird Slams Bush Administration over Proposed BLM Land Sale
Washington, D.C. – Congressman Brian Baird (D-WA-03) is demanding the Bush Administration put a stop to a misguided plan to sell hundreds of thousands of acres near some of the nations most iconic landscapes and national parks to the oil and gas industry. Land adjacent to Arches and Canyonlands National Parks is included in this potential sale. Today Congressman Baird, who serves as co-chair of the National Parks Caucus, sent a letter to Secretary of the Interior Dirk Kempthorne insisting next Friday’s proposed auction be cancelled immediately. ...more
