Internships

Internships are a wonderful opportunity for college students and recent graduates to learn about government through public service. While internships are unpaid, students gain a wealth of skills and knowledge working in the United States Senate.

In order to process your intern application, please submit the materials listed below together, as one package.

  • Cover Letter (Be sure to indicate which office, D.C. or Montana, you would like to work in.)
  • Resume
  • Writing Sample (two page maximum)
  • Three letters of recommendation from non-family members

To avoid mail delays, please fax your application to Senator Tester's Washington, D.C. office at (202) 224-8594. Only complete applications packages will be accepted for consideration.  Please indicate the session and specific dates that you are available to intern.
