As the September 11 attacks against our nation made clear, homeland security is an urgent need. I have supported several measures aimed at strengthening our homeland security, including: - Authoring comprehensive port security legislation and working for increased port security funding.
- Authoring and passing an airport security amendment requiring that all checked baggage without a corresponding passenger be removed from domestic flights.
- Strongly supporting President Bush's creation of an Office of Homeland Security.
- Strongly advocating fundamental immigration reform.
- Fighting for fuding for state and local first responders.
