Sports balls

Throughout the year, you can find a number of major sports games in or close by to Washington, DC.  The nation's capital is home to an NFL team, a major league baseball team, soccer and basketball teams, while nearby Baltimore hosts football and baseball.  Here are some links to a number of local teams along with information regarding ticket purchase.

Baltimore Orioles (MLB)

  The Orioles, also called "the O's", are part of the Eastern Division of Major League Baseball's American League.  They have played in Camden Yards since 1992.   
 

Baltimore Ravens (NFL)

  Baltimore has been home to the Ravens since 1995, when then owner Art Modell moved the Cleveland Browns from Ohio to Maryland. The Ravens , part of the AFC North Division of the NFL, won Super Bowl XXXV, playing against the New York Giants.

  DC United is considered one of the most successful professional soccer teams in America, having won the U.S. Open Cup in 1996 along with the MLS Cup four times (1996, 1997, 1999 and 2004) and the MLS Supporters' Shield four times (1997, 1999, 2006 and 2007).

  This professional ice hockey team plays in the Southeast Division of the Eastern Conference of the NHL.  
 

Washington Mystics (WNBA)

  The Washington Mystics, part of the Eastern Conference of the WNBA, were founded in 1998.  They play in the Verizon Center.  
 

Washington Nationals (MLB)

  After an absence of more than forty years, professional baseball returned to Washington, DC, when the Montreal Expos moved to town in 2005.  Renamed The Nationals ("Nats"), the team is part of the Eastern Division of MLB's National Leage,and christened a new stadium in spring of 2008. The stadium provides public tours on non-game days; there is a ticket charge for each person on the public tour ranging from $12-15.  
 

Washington Redskins (NFL)

  The Washington Redskins, part of the Eastern Division of the National Football Conference of the NFL, have played for eleven NFL championships and won five, including three of five Super Bowls.  The team plays in Landover, Maryland, and trains in Ashburn, Virginia.  
 

Washington Wizards (NBA)

  The Wizards play at the Verizon Center in downtown DC.  In 1995, the team changed its name from the Washington Bullets to the Washington Wizards following a contest.
