Veterans Group Awards Congressman Payne an "A" Grade - Congressman Donald M. Payne (NJ-10) has received an “A” grade from the Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America for his strong support of veterans, based on his voting record on veterans’ issues. The nonpartisan IAVA Action Fund recently released its 2008 Congressional Report Card, which graded the congressman on his leadership on key Iraq and Afghanistan veterans' issues. Congressman Payne has always worked to improve essential needs such as healthcare and benefits for those in uniform. more

Payne and Blumenauer Introduce Bipartisan, Bicameral Global Water Legislation - Congressman Donald M. Payne, Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on Africa and Global Health, and Congressman Earl Blumenauer [D-OR] this week introduced HR 7180 - Water for the Poor Enhancement Act of 2008. This bill, which enjoys bipartisan and bicameral support, increases the United States government's capacity to implement the Senator Paul Simon Water for the Poor Act of 2005 (PL 109-121). Senator Richard Durbin [D-IL] introduced identical legislation in the US Senate.

Payne Backs New Economic Recovery Package - Congressman Donald M. Payne today joined a majority of his colleagues in the US House of Representatives and backed legislation to boost our economy, create jobs, and help provide additional relief to families who are struggling. The Appropriations for Job Creation and Preservation, Infrastructure Investment, and Economic and Energy Assistance Act was passed by a vote of 264-158.
