Tours of the Capitol & D.C.
Washington, D.C. is an exciting city to visit, with many interesting places to tour. Please be sure to check out my Welcome to Washington Guide. My office can schedule tours of the U.S. Capitol and limited tours of the White House.

U.S. Capitol

For a guided tour by my office, please contact Jeffrey Phillips at 202-224-5852 or send an e-mail to tours@salazar.senate.gov . We can accommodate Capitol tour requests from Monday through Friday, 9:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. (Please Note: There is a 15 person limit per Capitol Tour. If we can accommodate large groups, they will have to divide into smaller groups). Capitol Tours are not guaranteed. An advance notice will increase your chances of securing a tour. Public tours of the Capitol Building can be arranged through the Capitol Guide Service Monday through Saturday. Free timed entry passes must be obtained from a kiosk the same day of the tour. One pass is given per person. Passes cannot be obtained in advance and are distributed on a first-come, first-serve basis at 9:00 a.m. During the summer months, passes go quickly. The kiosk is located on the Capitol grounds (opposite of the Botanic Gardens) at First and Independence Streets SW. Persons with accessibility needs may contact Congressional Special Services at 202-224-4048 to arrange a Capitol Tour. All Capitol Tours are approximately one hour.

White House

In order to request a White House tour a group of ten is required. Because it is difficult to find large groups coming to Washington on the same travel dates, we work with other Senate offices to combine groups. The White House will not accept any request less then one month from the day of the request, so please plan accordingly. All attendees must submit to my office at the time of your request your full name, social security numbers, dates of birth, country of origin and citizenship. The White House will not accept requests for groups smaller than ten people and will not permit any Congressional office to add people to requests that have already been filled with the White House Visitors Office. Attendees age 15 or older must have a valid form of identification. Tours are scheduled Tuesday through Saturday from 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.

Requesting a Tour

If you are planning on visiting Washington, please contact Jeffrey Phillips in my Washington office at 202-224-5852 or send an e-mail to tours@salazar.senate.gov . It is best to call as early as possible since a limited number of spaces are available. Requesting a tour does not guarantee a reservation. Please know that my staff and I will do our best to accommodate your needs. Tours may not be available for the dates requested. We will notify you whether or not we are able to fulfill your request.
