Sen. Salazar's Statement on Nomination of Sen. Tom Daschle to Lead HHS

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, United States Senator Ken Salazar released the following statement regarding President-elect Obama’s nomination of former Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle to serve as Secretary Health and Human Services (HHS):

“I applaud the selection of Senator Daschle to lead the effort to put President-elect Obama’s vision of affordable, quality health care for all into action. He brings to the position a wealth of health policy expertise and legislative experience, as well as a proven ability to build consensus around policies that work for all Americans. I cannot think of a better person for the job, and look forward to working with him and President-elect Obama to fix our Nation’s broken health care system.”

Last week, Senator Daschle delivered the keynote address at the 2008 Colorado Health Care Summit, an event convened by Senator Salazar that joined elected officials, business owners, health care providers, and members of the health care community for a discussion on how we can work together to fix America’s broken health care system.
