The 2009 Inauguration

Thank you for your interest in attending the 2009 Presidential Inauguration Ceremony. As of December 1st, we are no longer taking ticket requests.

Keep in mind, however, that, aside from a limited seating and standing room area on the Capitol grounds itself, tickets are not required to attend the swearing-in ceremony. There will be several large televisions set up along the National Mall so that all attendees can see the event. Many are estimating that one million or more people will attend the inauguration ceremony.

If you have questions about the inauguration, please visit the website of the Joint Congress Committee on Inaugural Ceremonies at http://inaugural.senate.gov. Please note that all tickets will be distributed through congressional offices and are not available for sale from any outlet or website.

If you requested a ticket from my office before December 1, we will soon notify you of whether we have been able to accommodate your request. Given the high number of requests for tickets and the limited number available, we will not be able to fulfill the vast majority of requests.

Again, thank you for your interest in attending the 2009 Presidential Inauguration Ceremony.
