VISITS FLOOD-DAMAGED AREAS IN WISCONSIN
Senator Views Affected Areas in South Central Wisconsin
June 13, 2008
Washington, D.C. –
Today, U.S. Senator Russ Feingold visited areas of Wisconsin hit hard
by rain and flooding this week to see the damage first hand and learn
what more the federal government can do to assist in response. Feingold
traveled and visited parts of Sauk County which suffered some of the
worst effects of this week’s harsh weather including massive flooding.
During a stop in Lake Delton, Feingold toured damage and met with federal,
state and local emergency management officials, as well as members of
the Wisconsin National Guard.
“The damage done by
the flooding throughout Wisconsin is simply devastating and my immediate
thoughts are with those who lost their homes and suffered other damage,”
Feingold said. “I am working with state and local officials, as
well as the Wisconsin congressional delegation, to ensure those affected
receive the assistance they need as quickly as possible.”
In the wake of the flooding,
Feingold and his staff have been in regular contact with Wisconsin Emergency
Management and county Emergency Management staff. On June 9th, Feingold
joined with other Wisconsin lawmakers in expressing their support for
any federal assistance to help communities across Wisconsin respond
to the flooding and other weather-related damage. On June 11th, Feingold
called FEMA Administrator R. David Paulison and asked for FEMA’s
quick approval of any aid request from Wisconsin areas affected by the
flooding. |
