Glens Falls, NY - Today, local Congresswoman Kirsten Gillibrand (NY-20) announced that she will hold a town hall meeting this Sunday, October 21st at 1pm at the Moreau Community Center. The topic of the forum will be Health Care Affordability. In addition, Congresswoman Gillibrand has made arrangements for the Partnership for Prescription Assistance "Help is Here Express" bus to be present to help those in the community who are uninsured or lack adequate healthcare coverage, connect to programs that provide prescription medicines for free or nearly free.

"As health care costs have skyrocketed in recent years, finding solutions towards making sure everyone can secure affordable, quality healthcare is a priority of mine," said Gillibrand, a member of the Armed Services Committee. "This is a great opportunity for folks to share their opinions and concerns on the issues that matter to them and we will have experts on hand to help folks save on their health care and prescription drug bills."
Later in the day, Congresswoman Gillibrand will be joining military families for the return of the 466th Medical Unit of the Army National Guard from Operation Iraqi Freedom at the Saratoga/Wilton Elks at 3pm.

The Moreau Community Center is the only agency in northern Saratoga County that provides human service programs. The Center is a multi-use, family-oriented facility that provides services ranging from a thrift shop, a nursery school, before and after school latchkey programs, an active 60+ senior citizen program, senior transportation services, a senior congregate luncheon site and an emergency food pantry.

The Moreau Community Center is also a community meeting place that provides meeting rooms for various Saratoga Country services, organizations and other community activities. Group such as Saratoga WIC, Juvenile Probation, Food Stamp programs the Hockey Association, Soccer Clubs, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts and Brownies use the center. Last year, the center provided services for over 10,000 people.

In just her first year Congresswoman Gillibrand has honored her pledge to hold a town hall meeting in each of the ten counties she represents.  This will be thirteenth town hall since January of 2007. In addition to her town hall meetings, Congresswoman Gillibrand regularly holds Congress At Your Corner events at local hot spots, such as grocery and book stores, to bring her office out in to the community she serves.

Gillibrand added, "I believe accountability and accessibility to the families of our community is very important to being an effective representative and I am committed to both."
