Internships

I am always accepting internship applications for both my Washington, D.C. and Delaware offices for the upcoming semester. The internship program presents an opportunity for both a unique learning experience and an inside look at the political process. It is a great way to receive college credit (if applicable) while gaining hands-on, real-world work experience.

Washington, D.C. Program

Washington, D.C. interns interact with me, my staff and Delaware constituents on a daily basis. They receive an inside look at the legislative process by attending hearings and, with their full access to the Library of Congress and Congressional Research Services, performing research on a wide variety of legislative issues. They also gain valuable experience by monitoring media outlets for daily developments, preparing briefing books, assisting with U.S. Capitol tours for constituent groups and providing general office support.

Delaware Programs

State office interns interact with me, my staff and Delaware constituents on a daily basis. They support office staff by addressing constituent concerns, legislative issues and monitoring news outlets for daily developments. They have the opportunity to attend political events such as the state fair and town hall meetings. They also have full access to the Library of Congress and Congressional Research Service.

How to Apply

All intern applicants MUST submit a completed application, two letters of recommendation, and a current resume, to the desired office.

Note that mail sent to the Washington, D.C. office may take up to 10 business days to arrive due to security screening. You are therefore encouraged to fax your completed application.

Application deadlines are as follows:
Fall Semester: September 30th (Washington, D.C., Dover and Georgetown offices) and September 10th (Wilmington only)
Spring Semester: December 31st
Summer: March 31st

Applicants must be undergraduate or graduate-level students. Delawareans will be given preference.
