Acadiana and Southwest Louisiana, the heart of Cajun Country, is a beautiful part of the country with wonderful people, scenic habitats, diverse wildlife and a story to tell.

2005, much of Southwest Louisiana was slammed by Hurricane Rita.  The storm was one of the most powerful to ever enter the Gulf of Mexico, and many communities in the area continue to rebuild.  The determination and spirit of the people in my district is evidenced everyday as schools, government buildings and homes are repaired or reconstructed often with the aid of neighbors.

Wildlife and our diverse habitats bring thousands of visitors to Southwest Louisiana annually.  Crocodiles, crawfish, redfish all provide both a reminder of our Cajun roots and a challenge to sportsmen around the region.
Louisiana is a national leader in energy production.  Approximately one-third of all U.S. oil and gas travels through Louisiana, and the state ranks fifth for both crude oil and natural gas production.  Twenty-five percent of the nation’s Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) will run through Louisiana’s Seventh District by the year 2015.
